MUSTANGS ADVANCE 3 TO SECTIONALS!
Congratulations to Liam Mellon, Adam Fell, and Nitesh Kumar for advancing to the IHSA Sectional at Schaumburg next Saturday, October 29th! The trio advanced by taking 29th, 32nd, and 41st at Saturday's Regional in Libertyville. Good luck, Mustangs!
On Monday the Mustangs played host to Stevenson HS at Diamond Lake Sports Complex. The Mustangs had perhaps their best performance to date, beating Stevenson 20-35. The top five runners had an impressive 24 second spread, led by Nitesh Kumar. Kumar was followed by Adam Fell, Liam Mellon, Cooper Lohr, and Jorge Becerra, who finished 2nd through 6th to seal the victory.
On Saturday the Mustangs competed in the prestigious Palatine Invitational, against some of the top ranked teams in the country. The Varsity squad took 23rd out of 30 teams, led by Nitesh Kumar in 115th place out of over 190 runners. The top performance of the day was in the freshman race, where Mickey Cardenas medaled, taking 25th place. Cardenas led the freshman squad to 16th place against some of the best freshman teams in the State.
On Monday the Mustangs lost a pair of dual meets to Lake Zurich and Libertyville by scores of 15-42 and 19-38. The Mustangs were led by Liam Mellon who took 10th overall, running a PR on the Lakewood Course. Mellon was followed by Cooper Lohr, Nitesh Kumar, and Adam Fell, who took 11th, 12th, and 13th. Freshman Bryce Richards completed the scoring for the Mustangs, taking 19th. Jorge Becerras and Donald Renz filled out the top 7.
On Saturday the Mustangs competed in the Warren Invite, where the varsity squad finished 8th out of 22 teams (see Photos). The Mustangs were led by Adam Fell who took 31st out of over 150 runner. Fell was followed by Liam Mellon, Nitesh Kumar, and Cooper Lohr, who took 38th, 41st and 42nd, respectively. Jorge Becerra took 78th to complete the scoring. At the F/S level, the squad demonstrated a tight pack through their first four runners. They were led by freshmen Chris Palacios and Mickey Cardenas, and sophomores Edgar Calixto-Garcia and Christian Haro. Sophomore Warren Jobe ran a great race and was 5th into the chute for the Mustangs, who took 11th out of 23 teams. Donald Renz led the JV squad in the open race, running a PR and taking 19th out of 131 runners.
On Monday the Mustangs lost a pair of dual meets, 25-31 to Lake Forest and 23-34 to Warren. The Mustangs were led by Nitesh Kumar and Adam Fell in 5th and 6th. They were followed by Cooper Lohr in 9th, Liam Mellon in 12th, and Jorge Becerra in 20th. Bryce Richards in 25th and Andrew Lovell in 29th filled out the top 7. Next up is the Warren Invitational on Saturday the 17th. The meet is being held at the O'Plaine campus of Warren HS, which can be found on O'Plaine Rd north of Washington St.
On Saturday the Mustangs competed in the Wauconda Invitational at Lakewood Forest Preserve (see Photos). The short-handed Varsity squad took 20th out of 28 teams with 541 points. The Mustangs were led by Adam Fell in 31st. Fell was followed by Jorge Becerra in 99th, Juniors Cooper Lohr and Andrew Lovell in 127th and 147th, and Junior Carlos Montenegro in 156th. The F/S squad took 9th out of 25 teams with 246 points. They were led by sophomore Liam Mellon, who took 10th place out of 395 runners. Mellon was followed by Freshmen Bryce Richards, Mickey Cardenas, and Chris Palacios in 44th, 54th, and 62nd, and sophomore Edgar Calixto in 87th.
Congratulations to the Boy's Cross Country team for their win over Round Lake by the score of 38-17. Senior Nitesh Kumar was the indivividual winner, with senior Adam Fell second, and sophomore Liam Mellon third. Junior Cooper Lohr in 5th and freshman Bryce Richards in 6th sealed the victory for the Mustangs.
